Water Test

Water is a critical component in all stages of construction, essential for preparing mortar, mixing cement concrete, and for effective curing. The quality of the water used directly influences the strength and durability of the mortar and concrete in your project. Therefore, it is ensured that the water used for both mixing and curing is free from harmful substances such as excessive alkalis, acids, oils, salts, sugars, organic matter and vegetable growth, which can negatively impact the bricks, concrete, or steel.

Impurities in water can lead to metal corrosion, introduce unwanted silt and clay into the concrete mix, interfere with the concrete's hardening process, and ultimately reduce its strength. Recognizing these potential issues, water quality is prioritized to guarantee the longevity and structural integrity of your construction.

The following water tests are conducted :

Name of the Tests IS Codes for Water Test BIS Permissible limits, Max (as per IS 450:2000)
pH IS 3025 (Part 11):2022 Not less than 6
Chlorides IS 3025 (Part 32): 1988 2000 ppm for concrete not containing embedded steel and 500 ppm for reinforced concrete work
Sulphates IS 3025 (Part 24): 2022 400 ppm
Organic IS 3025 (Part 18): 2022 200 ppm
Inorganic IS 3025 (Part 18): 2022 3000 ppm
Suspended Matter IS 3025 (Part 17): 2000 2000 ppm
